Four volumes, two containing letters, documents, pamphlets, and blueprints, and two containing photographs, which document the planning, construction and completion of the renovation of the Willcox Canal and the creation of an irrigation district by the Grand River Irrigation and Development Company, the Willcox Canal Company, and the Grand Valley Irrigation District, of Grand Valley, Garfield County, Colorado. Materials include original and carbon copies of letters and reports from agricultural agents, engineers and other consultants concerning the viability of the project; legal documents regarding the establishment of the irrigation district; proposals, blueprints, specifications, contracts, reports and bills for the work performed by the Field, Fellows and Hinderlider Engineering Company, Lumsden and Gordon, Contractors, and others; pamphlets describing equipment used in the construction; letters attesting to the success of the project; and related newspaper clippings. The two volumes of photographs contain black-and-white and color photographs with typed captions of the Grand Valley area, ca. 1910-1912, including scenic views, orchards and agricultural fields, the Grand Valley Fruit Day festivities, local buildings, as well as construction photographs. Some photographs contain images of unidentified individuals.
